The Rest

2024Brand Identity, Art Direction, Event Communications

The Rest is a sanctuary and residency for displaced artists in Nairobi. A place to recover, reconnect and make work, with a public programme that brings art, film and music into the city.

A pause with purpose

The mark begins with an inverted eighth-note rest. Read as a musical pause and as a body at rest, it gives the programme a compact symbol for stopping, gathering strength and beginning again.

Displaced names

For an exhibition about displacement, the artists’ names are displaced too. Fragmented letterforms move from the screen onto the gallery walls.
